Canadian Ivy League
The Canadian Ivy League or “Canadian Ivies”, much like the American “Ivy League” or British “Oxbridge”, is a league comprising of a number of Universities which make out the top lists of Canadian universities. The label is derived from general rhetoric, and as such there is no strict list of the schools included in the group. The term is also not commonly used in Canada, but when used refers to institutions such as McGill University, the University of Toronto, Queen’s University, and the University of British Columbia (UBC). These universities are among Canada’s oldest and largest endowed schools, having strong reputations in both undergraduate and postgraduate studies and drawing thousands of international applicants each year.
The attraction of the Canadian Ivies is “a much better life experience” for some, lower tuition costs for others, and having alternative university choices for others.
Like the American Ivy League, a degree from one of these institutions is almost always sure to guarantee an extremely high chance of success in the job market.
